With his appointment, Christian Wieszner is the second managing director of CSL Behring GmbH, headquartered in Marburg, alongside Dr. Niklas Schier. He is thus taking responsibility for one of the largest business units of the Australian parent company CSL in Germany. CSL Behring has a long tradition both globally and locally: the company has been a leader in the manufacturing of biotherapeutics for people with rare and life-threatening diseases for more than 100 years. The company's roots lead back to Emil von Behring, who received the first Nobel Prize in Medicine. Today, CSL Behring employs more than 3,200 people at its Marburg and Hattersheim sites.
Christian Wieszner has held various managing director positions at CSL Behring since 2018, including in sales organizations in Europe and the United Kingdom. He is currently responsible for the DACH region. “I look forward to continuing Dr. Lutz Bonacker's successful work and, together with Niklas and our team, to further strengthening CSL Behring's position as a leader in the biopharmaceutical industry, both regionally and nationally,” explains Christian Wieszner.
Before joining CSL Behring, Christian Wieszner held various sales management positions at the Novartis Group. He also served as managing director of Alcon, a division of Novartis, in South Africa.
