On October 5, 2024, the Tiny Festival will open its doors on the campus of the University of Marburg. What began a year and a half ago as an idea to create an innovative ecosystem in Marburg has now reached a new peak. Together with a dedicated and diverse group from education, politics, business, culture, and the Marburg community, CSL Innovation – the research and development division of CSL in Marburg – has continuously developed and promoted this initiative.

Making Innovation Tangible

Three key initiatives will be presented at the Tiny Festival:

  • Cross-Mentoring: This program fosters sustainable partnerships between mentees and mentors from different social, cultural, and professional backgrounds. The goal is to overcome silos through cross-sector collaboration, enable mutual learning, and develop innovative solutions for societal challenges.
  • Political-X-Change App: Developed by young people, this app provides a platform for direct dialogue with politicians on important topics such as education and democracy. The app has reached the national finals of the “JUGEND GRÜNDET” competition and aims to inspire young people to participate in politics.
  • Listening Cubes: This interactive initiative brings people with different perspectives into dialogue, promotes listening, and creates space for diversity and inclusion. The goal of the Listening Cubes is to break down barriers and strengthen mutual understanding.

All three projects were developed in collaboration with local partners and tested and further developed under the overall direction of Yukiko Elisabeth Kobayashi, Lead Innovation EcoSystem Marburg & beyond.

Tiny Festival – Agenda

The Tiny Festival offers a unique opportunity to discover these initiatives in an interactive environment and to exchange ideas with the project participants. The festival begins at 11 AM with city tours. From 1 PM, the presentations of the initiatives will follow in the atrium of the university library, accompanied by networking and exchange. All activities of the Tiny Festival are free of charge.

A special highlight is the live creation of a street artwork on the facade of the old university library. Young local artists Mathis Nuno Hagenau (24), Agnes Schubert (24), Carl Hjalmar Berg (17), Moritz Habermann (24) and Hermes Köhler (33)  will work with citizens to immortalize the vision of a sustainable innovation ecosystem on a wall of the old university library.
