Plasma donations save lives

Life savers wanted: why it’s important to donate blood plasma right now.

Story
Plasma donations

The spread of the coronavirus is placing an increasing burden on the health care sector. Maintaining medical care is currently a top priority. We, too, must continue to supply our patients with life-saving medicines, for which we need a stable stream of plasma donations. Only if people continue to come to the plasma centers and donate blood plasma during the crisis can we ensure the treatment of our patients and save lives.

Our eight plasma centers throughout Germany meet the highest hygiene standards. All protective measures against the coronavirus are implemented on site at all times and

  • the increased social distancing measures are strictly monitored and adhered to.
  • There is no evidence that SARS-CoV-2 is transmissible through blood.
  • Our medical staff in the plasma centers check the health status of each donor with all due care and are always available to answer questions.
  • As an additional precaution, from now on only donors will be granted access to the plasma center facilities. People accompanying donors are not permitted.

Our donors receive an expense allowance from CSL Plasma for their commitment, which is based on the incurred expenditure and the particular type of donation (§ 10(2) of the German Transfusion Act).
